Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Over the past few years that I have had these Panama pages on the Web I have
answered lots of questions (on free time) almost on a daily basis. Because my
time is limited and I usually come across similar type of questions I am
compiling this FAQ to make sure that my time is used more effectively and that
I can spend time on genuinely new questions.
Before rushing into sending me an email with a question(s) I ask you to go
through my web pages in search of the information you seek, if you can't find
it look at the FAQ, if after this your question is still unanswered then feel
free to asking me.
Did you read this FAQ completely? I keep on receiving requests for
things that are in the FAQ, I know asking is easier but please keep in mind
that these pages are provided out of my free time. School kids doing your
research paper on Panama: Read the whole site, don't take lazy shortcuts.
I need dental (or orthodontic) treatment while in Panama
Here some links of reputable clinics:
Can you send me a brochure?
No. Like you I am just an individual who has decided to present some
information on the web, I am not connected to any government agency
(such as the Instituto Panameno de Turismo) or travel agency, therefore
the only literature I have is the one I have fetched on my own travels to
prepare these pages. Please contact the Panamanian Consulate that is closest to
you, they are there to serve you.
Could you find this person/company?
Contrary to what some people think I do not live in Panama yet, but I lived
there most of my life (I am Panamanian). Therefore it is very difficult for me
to grab a phone book thousand of kilometers away. But I have something better
so that you can do it on your own: Yellow/White
Pages.
Could you get me the email address or phone number of...
Sorry, see the answer to the previous question.
I am looking for Panamanians online
Sure! you can begin by subscribing to the PANAMA-L
Listserver. Although the list is mostly composed of Panamanians living abroad
or in Panama, there are many that are citizens of other countries who happened
to live in Panama for some part of their lives, or married to a Panamanian etc.
You are welcome to join in.
What about eco-tourism?
Yes, There is Eco-tourism in Panama. We can think of side trips to Barro
Colorado island (book well in advance!), Darien and many of the National Parks.
Any Published Travel Guides?
There are several travel guides about Panama, many of them are featured in the
Amazon Book control that appears on the right side of these pages as
Recommended Reading.
I need a map of Panama
You can usually get them at the gas station, Arrocha Farmacies and bookstores.
If you are in the USA try with Rand
McNally. A more extensive source of all sorts of maps of Panama would
be the Tommy Guardia Geographic
Institute.
Relocating to Panama?
There are special laws in Panama to facilitate immigrating to Panama after you
reach retirement age in your country. In any case you will find
this information useful.
